Alecia Lipton, the Community Relations Coordinator for the MHS Alumni Association, said one McClain graduate will be inducted into the Hall of Fame each year, and that nominations for athletic teams or school clubs will also be considered for induction.
“We just wanted people to have pride in their high school and pride in where they came from, and we felt we needed to acknowledge those outstanding graduates,” Lipton said in explaining why the alumni association decided to start a Hall of Fame.
The ceremony also recognizes outstanding Senior Scholars at McClain High School and Teachers who were nominated for the Excellence Awards by members of the 2012 MHS Senior Class.
“Typically, the students who are recognized are in the top 10 percent of their class and aside from the high GPA, they’re somebody that has contributed to the community through volunteering and are just all around great kids,” Lipton says.
Student and Faculty award winners are not announced until the night of the night of the ceremony.
